Château Loupiac-Gaudiet

Château Loupiac-Gaudiet

Loupiac (Sauternais)

It was in the 18th century that the owner Jean Belso had the Loupiac castle built to the same dimensions as his boat, to make it his holiday home. In 1919, the grandfather of Marc Ducau, already owner of the castle of Pontac in Loupiac, bought the castle of Loupiac, renamed Loupiac-Gaudiet, Gaudiet being the name of the piece of land of the vine behind the castle.

In 1964, Marc Ducau took over the estate. His nephew Daniel Sanfourche came to help him in 1986, joined by his wife in 1991.

Daniel has been managing the estate since 1995 and was joined by his son Nicolas in 2014.

The vineyard is located on the hillside, overlooking the Garonne. The 40 year old vineyard covers an area of 28 hectares. Semillon dominates grape varieties at 90%, supplemented by 10% sauvignon.

The Botrytis Cinéréa grows thanks to the particular climate of our region, with morning mists and a sunny afternoon in autumn.
