Domaine des Mazis
Châteaumeillant (Centre-Loire)
We are Isabelle and Alexandre des Mazis, winemakers in the heart of an ancient and beautiful terroir located in the country of George Sand, in the very center of France: Châteaumeillant, which gave its name to the AOC Châteaumeillant.
Attached to this region steeped in tradition and history, we recently decided to exploit a few acres, in order to find our roots, and share an adventure with farmer friends. This wine project has been tempting us for a long time,…
One day, an opportunity presented itself to us, thanks to a meeting with a winegrower who gave birth to this wine terroir that is Châteaumeillant. He then proposed to other people to share his know-how: this original approach, which allows the vineyard to increase its notoriety beyond Berry, seduced us!
Today, we have fulfilled our dream, and are working alongside other winegrowers to revive this beautiful vineyard. To do this, we regroup in CUMA (Cooperative for the Common Use of Agricultural Equipment) for the sharing of agricultural equipment but each of us has his own tanks and becomes an ambassador making discover this terroir around him. We still share our various experiences and sensitivities with a common concern: to make a quality wine. We work the vines in an artisanal way, the grapes are harvested by hand then sorted on the table to keep only the best bunches.
